Taking The Next Steps

Do you ever sit around and contemplate your life choices? Do you think about where you are now and where you want to be? Are you envisioning and embodying exactly what you want, or are you very far from that? Sometimes we enable ourselves to be stuck when we need to be taking the next steps. If you’re contemplating how you should proceed in your life, this is for you.

What Do You Want?

The first thing that you need to do is take stock of what you want. Most people have an idea about what kind of life they want to live and where they want to be careerwise, family-wise, or otherwise! If you don’t know, sit down and figure it out. Where do you see yourself in the next couple of months, years, and next decade? Are you in a new career, engaged, or have a family? What is it that you want? Write that down, bold, underline, and highlight it. Whatever want, this is the thing that you are going to envision as you take the next steps

How Far Are You?

After you have determined what you want, it’s time to figure out how far you are from getting there. If you’re looking for a new career, how close are you to getting it? Do you have the training, skills, expertise, and knowledge base that you need to be able to go forward and get that job? Are you in school, networking, and looking for resources? If you’re looking to start a family, are you knowledgeable about your fertility, the process of starting a family? Do you have money set aside to take care of them? Whatever your goal is, write a checklist of all the steps you need to take to get there. Highlight which step in the process you were at so you know how far you have left to go

How To Take The Next Steps

After determining how far you are from getting where you want to be, it’s time to take the next step. Start checking things off your to-do list one by one. It doesn’t matter if it takes a couple of days, months, or years to reach those goals or end goals. You’re going to take it one step at a time. Celebrate each time you hit a milestone, especially when you have reached the end of your path. It will be well worth it.
